From the Codex of Seasons, as transcribed in the Seventh Concordance Era.
“When the Goddess Aurelia first claimed the isle of Veridia, she threaded her Seasonal essence into the heart of the world. Her power traversing the ley lines, binding sea and soil.
To the entire world of Thalore, she bestowed a breath of the eternal cycle. The birth of Spring, the blooms of Summer, the decay of Autumn, and finally the rest of Winter. From her covenant came the turning of seasons, unbroken for many millennia.
Yet, where her blessing burned the brightest, the seasons reigned eternal. The Isle of Veridia, heart of her creation, drank too deeply of the gift. Four realms rose, each locked in its appointed time, each unable to yield to the next.
Over time, the magical clock ran slow, sending the seasons into chaos, not only for Veridia but for all of Thalore. Thus began the Seasons’ Covenant: the tending of the Cycle through harmony and sacrifice. When magic wanes, it must be reborn; when the song falters, it must be sung anew.
We name this the Concordance—an accord between the divine and the mortal, that the world might endure its endless spring, summer, autumn, and winter in balance once more.”
